Lobo Loss and All-In-All a Bust of a Night!

The Lobos must have been out the night before partying, because they did not show up to win.  They played at the pace of Harvard and had the lead only a couple of times all night.  They could not make 3 pointers to save their lives and played very sloppily for a first round tourney game.  Is it a curse, as I believe only one UNM team has gotten a game further?  Ryan can you correct me on this if I am wrong, which is quite possible.  As were the Lobos a bust, so were players busting out left and right at the long table.  Baker and I were busting players out quickly as the all-in's were being called early in play.  Maybe it was because everyone wanted to watch the game?

No Results or Summaries for Week 14

No one else wanted to take the reigns on this one.  I was obviously away.  Being a teacher, I had Spring Break.  So my family and I headed out to Anaheim to go to Disneyland.  You can read about it if you like at my blog, but it would be like watching home movies of the family at Disneyland.  You remember, the 8mm projector (or maybe you don't because you are all so young), popcorn and being bored to tears because no one really wants to see your family on vacation.

But if you are interested in starting that garden it is time.  Go back through my blog of the greenhouse and garden at the old place and use some of my successes and failures to create your own.

See you all Thursday for poker and hopefully a Lobo victory!  Everyone is a Lobo, WOOF, WOOF, WOOF!

Results and Synopsis of Last We Met - Ryan and Becky's Place

By the number of vehicles and the lack of walking room in Ryan and Becky's home it was clear that it was a night for poker, 25 players showed up.  As we have grown used two tables and the dwindling numbers it was nice to see all the familiar faces who have become unfamiliar and the unfamiliar faces who are becoming more familiar.  However, it was not a night for the what refer to as the newbies.

Good time for a few newbie hints, I encourage anyone to add your own, but don't be mean as we do not want to 'tap the glass' as Jack would say:

We know you're a newbie when you knock at the door or ring the door bell instead of just walking in.

We know you're a newbie when you keep asking what the blinds are at or don't put them out.

We know you're a newbie when you seriously over bet the pot.

We know you're a newbie when you play out of turn.

Results and Overview of the happenings at the Guajardo's

The night started with 16 players and pocket 5's turning into quads with a flopped 5 and a turned 5 by Anthony.  An all-in and that set the tone for the rest of the night.  Bigger hands over big hands all night long.  But, it was one who dominated.  Evans stated that, "Baker had a horseshoe up his ass!"  Baker had 30,000 chips and had knocked out everyone at one table.  It was surreal!  Baker knocked out the two hosts in one hand, bigger full house with QT (QTT) over T5 (TT99).  The horshoe must have dislodged after the second break.  Baker did take a while in the restroom...  Anyway, he came back after break and finished third.  Baker made a move and Chris called him, giving Chris the chip lead.  Chris then took over and dominated the final table when it was down to five.  Baker took a bad-beat from Chris and was out in third.  Evans went heads-up with Chris and lost a big hand with pocket rockets to ace-king.&nb

Valentine's Day Poker Results and Recap

Thanks to all of those who showed last night on Valentine’s Day and playing poker rather than being out with your sweetie.  We had 9 show up, so most of you must have a sweetie!  But, in all truth, last night was more like Father’s Day at the tables.  As 4 out of 6 fathers finished in the top six, the old guys represented.  Qtip finished 6th on the bubble, Baker (Mayhem) finished 4th, Tim finished 3rd, and Eliseo finished 2nd.  TK took it down, finally wins with a pair of Kings, cracking Qtips pocket rockets by rivering a third King.  TK’s Aces held up and he was on a roll, all the way through heads up against Eliseo.   But the star of the night was Eliseo’s daughter Starr.  The 14-year-old phenom took 5th place.  Unfortunately, her father, Eliseo, had to deliver the last blow and flop an Ace when she was short stacked and went all in with pocket 4’s, Eliseo had AK suited.

New Chip structure for final table

In discussion tonight it was mentioned that the percentages were skewed.  The way it worked out is that each point was worth 250 in chips.  Wanting to give 10th place a total of 10,000 starting stack was the goal to calculating this.  Simply by dividing 10,000 by total points earned for 10th place points and rounding so that all stacks came out an even rounded number or rounding up.

One thought was that the chip leader, Louis, had significantly more chips than everyone else.  However, if you base it on points, he also had twice as many points as 10th place.  So the chip stack correlates with the points earned for the season.

The thought was that a set percentage be used next time for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc...

But here is the breakdown for this last final table if just so that everyone can make an informed decision.

Name/ Points /Chip Stack/ Percentage

Louis 89 22250  14.1%

Kevin 71 17750 11.25%
