Weeks 8, 9, & 10

Weeks 8 & 9 are kind of a blurr to me, because as you know I am a teacher and school started.  I have been very tired, having to adjust to getting up early in the mornings.  I keep poker hours in my natural state.  I am a night owl.  I have always liked to stay up late, until 2 or 3 am and get up at 11 pm, that would be the ideal schedule for me.  Unfortunately, I picked the wrong profession for that.  Sean hosted two weeks in a row, thanks Sean, he provided cards, because I had forgotten that I picked them up at the Fox and the Hound the previous week.  All kinds of things went wrong, but we played and I guess things went right for Tim Mc as he took it down.  That's about all I remember.  If you wish to add your bad beats, go for it!

The next week, week 9, Sean provided fajitas, very tasty!  Thanks!  I make the final table, but was knocked out about 7 or 8 and left, because I was tired and had to get up early.  I do not know who won or have any results.  I heard this week that Partap took it down last week.  He should've left after arriving late and getting penalized 500 chips for the blinds.  TK gave him a hard time about the penalty and Partap did whine about it as well.  Words were exchanged, but I think Partap was able to get over it after a 1st place finish.

Speaking of tardies, Evans showed up late again tonight, and was denied entry for not showing up at the Fox and the Hound.  I think next season, players should not be allowed to enter late unless their name is on the list.  Also, feel that if a person calls and is late, they should be removed after the first two levels or 30 minutes.  I think a full hour of having to shuffle and deal for an absent person sucks, not to mention the number of misdeals and confusion it causes.  It is really inconviences players at the table that is missing a player when someone does not show up on time.

This week Chris and Yvonne hosted.  I had a great time, why you ask?  Because it sure is nice to take one down every once in a while.  I got some extra spending cash and 11 points for the night and I do not really feel that I played that tremendously well.  I was just hitting hands at the right time.  I will play the night in reverse, just to change it up.  The last hand of the night finished with me and Louis playing heads up.  We had just finished chipping up greens after playing heads up for almost a full level before chip up of the greens.  Yes, everyone dropped out fast and we finished by 11pm and still had green chips heads up with blinds at a low, 800/1600.  I had approximately 46,000 after break, a lot of play there.  But, a few hands in and Louis raises 5000 with the blinds at 1000/2000.  I call with A-9.  I check and Louis checks, the flop is 9-9-Q.  The turn is a Jack and I check, Louis goes all-in.  I call, he turns over 7-9.  The river is a 4 and I had Louis covered, so I took it down.  The third place finisher was the "Eliminator", because apparently Brad was taking everyone out at the main, pool table.  He had a huge stack when we tabled up for the final ten.  But he ran into three hands with me and lost them all.  The hand that did him in, he had 600 left after it, was when I called a 4000 raise by Brad with the blinds at 800/1600 with pocket 2's.  The flop came 2, 3, 8 all spades.  I checked, he bet 3000, I called.  The next card was a 6 of diamonds.  I checked he went all-in, I called and showed the ducks, quack!  He had a pair of 6's, don't remember what the other card was and then the river card another 3 to make the full house.  Prior to that I called a small raise by Brad with A-6 in my hand and the flop came A-5-J.  I checked and he checked, then the turn brought another J.  Brad went all-in and I called.  He had paired the 5, but I had the Ace and doubled up.  Prior to that I double up against Brad with a similar hand.  Some other hands that I played, I know that Sean was irritated with me, because I called a bet on the river with a pair of 5's.  He raised to 800, I called, and TK called.  The flop came J-J-5.  We all checked, then the river brought an Q.  We all checked and the river was a K.  Sean bet 800, I called, TK folded.  He had Ace high and I had an A-5 or a pair of 5's.  I hit trip K's against Chris, that was a big pot that propelled me to the final 5.  I think Chris bubbled after that, then TK got knocked out with what we will call the hand or two hands of the night.  TK was all-in with pocket 8's, and Louis had A-Q.  Louis flopped the cards, Q-10-Q.  Oops! It was Brad's deal.  Then Brad dealt, 4-7-9, looking good for TK, 10 on the turn, TK could improve, the river an Ace.  TK couldn't win a race twice, two different decks!

The final five were, Eliseo (1st), Louis (2nd), Brad (3rd), Sean (4th), and TK (5th).  Fourteen players played and thanks again to Chris and Yvonne for hosting as they are moving this weekend and are still going to host next week at their new place near Candelaria and Carlisle.  Look for the email for directions!
