Week 6 & 7:A Very Brief Synopsis
Amy hosted week 6 at the Fox and the Hound. She had plenty of snacks and there was plenty of sinking going on. Alicia was our waitress and did an awesome job. Sean even commented on the service the great service. Seventeen players showed and one no show. Any wagers on who? I don't really recall any hands from the night, I just know as soon as I moved tables, I went completely card dead. TK was tremendously excited by a chip landing on its side. Brad took it down with his usual poker brand of the poker gods smiling down on him. Which was the common theme for week 7 for me. Prior to moving, I did pick up some chips against Chris with a really nice hand. I called Chris' preflop raise of 600 with blinds and 100/200. The flop came 2-4-6, I checked and Chris fired 600 and I called. The turn came a 2. I checked and Chris bet another 600. Getting redundant isn't it! Then, the river a 4. I checked and Chris bet 600. I raised to 1200 and Chris called. He revealed pocket 8's. I had pocket 4's making Quads. We tabled up for the final table as the other table quickly lost players. Once I moved tables, I went card dead after we tabled up for the final table. Ryan finished second last week and was playing in the final three when I left Sean's tonight. The four remaining were Ryan, Chris, Tim, and Josh. Ryan is also basking in the blessings of the poker gods these past couple of weeks. Ryan was pretty much out, but was able to double up against me with A-K versus K-Q. Bad call you say! Well hold on, Ryan was all-in for 2200 and I was in the big blind for 800 already committed. I was sitting on 5500. I had some breathing room and a possibility of adding 2200 with a call of 1400 more. It was the right play. It was a gamble and I lost. A few hands later he doubled up against Josh. He pulled his "darkness" bit and went all-in. Josh was on the big blind and looking down at A-Q. I wanted to tell him not to call, but he did. Ryan turned over pocket Queens. They held and Ryan was no longer grinding! I was knocked out when my pocket J's didn't hold against Chris' A-5. He hit an ace. Not much later, Josh threw out a bet of 5000 with the blinds at 1000/500. Chris went all- in, both had a lot of chips at this point. Josh stated, "all-in!" He was a bit scared, or shitting his pants and reluctantly called revealing his pocket Queens. Chris turned over pocket Kings. Josh had resigned himself to his demise. The flop was a bunch of middle cards, 6-8-9, the turn another blank, the river a Q. Josh now has the chip lead with about 30 big blinds. There were several suck outs and the final three played a long while. I left after losing at cash. The hand that did me in was against TK in which I had 8-9 clubs on the big blind and called a two dollar raise. The flop was K-10-7. K and 7 were clubs. It didn't matter what TK had, I'm committed no matter what. I did get all-in and could not convert on the river after a 10 came off and a lousy 4 of spades. Lost $11 there and my final $4.50 to Louis when my A-5 could not win against A-J. Needed a 2 to make a straight when the flop came 3-4-10 or a 5, no poker gods on my side. Damn! I had outs! 15 outs against TK and 8 outs against Louis. Famous last words, I suppose. I had outs! Yeah out the door until next week.
