Final Table Season 16 errr The Main Event!

Going to try something different for Season 16 that hopefully everyone will like. For the past 15 seasons, the final table at season's end has been a celebration for the top 10 players from the season.  Which has worked well and served its purpose for 8 years.  But as we reflect on 15 seasons, it became evident that the final table was too exclusive and inhibited those from playing that cannot dedicate the time every week to play.  In actuality, the final table should be a celebration for all players that have contributed to the end of year pot throughout the season.  With that being said, I think we can tweak the system to allow for everyone that has made a concerted effort and played at least 5 times throughout the season to be allowed a seat at the final table, or as it will be now coined the Main Event. The Main Event will be played on June 28th 2014 and will be open to all players that have played at least 5 times throughout the season.  All players must RSVP one week prior to ensure a seat so that we can accomodate those that want to play.  Starting chip stacks will again be based upon points accured but calculated upon a formula that rewards players with more points.  The formula is simple, take # of points and multiply it by itself and then multiply by 4.  For example TK finished with 76: 76x76x4 = $23100 .  This will be the formula for all players that have 16 points or higher.  For those that have 15 or fewer and choose to play, they will be awarded $1000 as the minimum starting chip stack.  This will allow everyone at least a starting chip stack of 20x big blind. The main event will also require a $20 buy-in, with all the money going towards the end of year pot.

The idea behind this approach is:
1. The Main Event is a celebration for all to enjoy, Anniversary and Pot-luck! Hopefully old-timers will show.
2. Finishing 11th doesn't suck anymore
3. For those that can't make it every week can still enjoy the final game and have a chance (albeit maybe slight) of winning EOY pot.
4. Chip stacks are still weighted for the highest point totals.  Starting chip stacks for top 10 will be very similar to those from season 15 final table.  So frequent playing still has an advantage
5. Adding $20 from every player will increase EOP pot by potentially 30-50% depending on how many show up
6. Hopefully we can field 4, 5 or even 6 tables of players, which is why RSVP is required.
7. Minimum of 5 appearances throughout the season is a nice balance of not allowing one-time ringers from playing and allowing every-other-week players to enjoy the game
8. After 15 seasons and 8 years, it is time for a change.
